Kauai - Spring Break - April 2012

We all loved to walk down the road from the house to Moloaa Bay. It's not often that we even saw any other people there. But, that could have been because it was only about 70 degrees and cloudy. Both times we have to been to Kauai it has been "unseasonably" cold.

When the tide was out there was a lot to explore.

Bentley found a little hermit crab.

Cecily collected shells and put them in the pink bag she made.

We all played in the waves.

And drew in the sand.

I can't remember the name of this beach, but it had a nice calm inlet where the kids could play. It was also shallow water that went on forever and ever.

I can't say that we found any great restaurants while there. But, this one was not too far of a drive from the house and we liked how it had an open deck.

One evening we drove to Hanalei Bay.  We walked out onto the pier and played on the beach. The rain was coming on and off and it made for some beautiful pictures.

As the sun went down Bryan got some great silhouette shots of the kids as they played.

One secluded beach we found not too far from where we were staying is Larson Beach. It's a bit of a hike to get there, but it's incredible how beautiful it is there. Once you visit you want to go back again and again.

At the advice of our friends the Jaussi's, we went to this fun park. 

Here is Bentley choosing out his oyster.  Cecily chose one out too and the people that work there open it up for you.  It was exciting waiting to see if a pearl was inside. Cecily's had a single white pearl and Bentley's had 2 black pearls inside!  Bentley decided to keep his and we had Cecily's made into a necklace for her.

Back at the house there was more swimming in the pool and even a bonfire.  We only had a fire one night while there because the mosquitos would come out in the evening and were so bad! But the fire pit was so cool.

We attended sacrament meeting while there and the ward was so kind to us.  They even gave us flower leis.

This is Kilauea Lighthouse.

We went on the little nature tour and the kids filled out the little books about the different kinds of wildlife that lived there.  The land around the lighthouse is a bird reserve and many of them live in the cliffs high above the crashing waves.
