Paris was a last minute add on to our trip. We decided that we couldn't leave France without seeing Paris. So early on the last morning of our trip Deanne and I loaded up our rental van and left the little village of Eygaliares and drove as the sun rose to the Marseille airport.
After getting our luggage we piled into two separate cabs and went to the hotel we had booked online then off to the see the city in the heat we went.
We had stayed up very late the night before visiting with Shauna and her family and packing. We didn't get very much sleep but were set on seeing the Louvre, Notre Dame, and the Eiffel Tower in Paris all in one day - and we drug our tired kids along with us.
It was an extremely hot day and there was a lot of walking involved.
We did get into the Louvre and the heat, tiredness and disinterest of the kids made for quite a different experience than I had imagined. But we managed to see much of the museum and are glad we made it there. Below are the kids resting on a bench and Bentley and Jake looking up at the intricately detailed ceiling.
We got to see the MONA LISA.
And Cecily wasn't very impressed - She is six though - go figure.
We also saw the Venus de Milo.
The place is ginormous and there is so much to see. Here is Bentley riding the escalator up and out of the Louvre.
And below is a random picture of a hot dog we ordered. It doesn't look like the hot dogs we get in the states = children complain and don't want to eat it.
