Camping and Fort Bridger Rendezvous - Labor Day 2011

Here are the kids in front of the lean to that we all built together at our camp. My sister taught me to build them when I was little and I taught my kids how to make them on this trip.

This year over the Labor Day holiday we camped in the Mirror Lake Byway area of Wyoming. We camped at the exact spot in 2008 (see the post of that trip here the kids were so little then). It was a long drive but it payed off because we camped not too far from the Fort Bridger Mountain man rendezvous. This is another nostalgic thing from my childhood because my dad used to take us to the rendezvous.
The kids at our camp.

The primitive fire making tent at the Rendezvou that Bryan and Bentley spent so much time at.

Cecily at the Rendezvous. Boys and girls split up for most of the day to look around. Cecily picked out a little feather for her hair, face painting, a small leather beaded bag, and a bunch of little sea shells. Bryan and Bentley spent most of their time at the fire making tent. There was a mountain man there who was teaching how to start fire with a piece of string and wood. They also spent time at the black smith shop.
We enjoyed seeing all the people in their era costumes as we sat in the shade and drank their homemade root beer.
Lucy dog also had a great time. She wondered around with us on leash and saw many other interesting dogs!
Back at our camp spot the next morning Cecily had all her sea shells spread out on the top bunk.
After we got back from the rendezvous we found out my mom and dad had also gone there about the time we left. They took the scenic route through Mirror Lake Byway to visit us at our camp spot on their way home.
It was so fun to have them visit. We cooked them a hot dog over the fire and visited til way after dark. They brought Cecily an old time sun shade umbrella from the rendezvous and Bentley a leather beaded bag. Oh and some more brewed root beer!

We spent one morning at Butterfly Lake. It is such a beautiful place. Bryan took lots of photos of the kids. Above are Bentley and Cecily at Butterfly lake 2011.

And Below is a picture of them at Butterfly Lake in 2008.

And some more pictures of them at the Rendezvous.
